2. Acceptance of Terms

By using this website or enrolling in a Course, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use this website or enrol.

You must be at least 18 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement. By submitting an enrolment, you confirm that you meet these requirements.

3. Course Description and Availability

Slatewise provides structured financial education courses designed for adults aged 40 and above, based in Malaysia. Courses are available in person at our Kuala Lumpur premises or online. Course content, format, duration, and fees are described on our website and may be updated before each intake.

We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule a Course intake if minimum enrolment numbers are not reached. In such cases, enrolled participants will be offered a transfer to a subsequent intake or a full refund of the Course Fee paid.

4. Enrolment and Payment

Enrolment Process

Enrolment is confirmed when you receive a written enrolment confirmation from Slatewise and payment of the full Course Fee has been received. We accept payment by bank transfer in Ringgit Malaysia (RM). Payment instructions are provided in the enrolment confirmation.

Fees

All Course Fees are quoted in Ringgit Malaysia and are inclusive of all materials described in the course description. No additional charges apply during the course.

Refund Policy

  • 14 days or more before the course start date: full refund, less any bank transfer charges.
  • 7 to 13 days before the course start date: 50% refund of the Course Fee.
  • Less than 7 days before the course start date: no refund. You may transfer your enrolment to a future intake of the same course, subject to availability.
  • After the course has begun: no refund for sessions already delivered.

Refund requests must be submitted in writing to [email protected].

5. Course-Specific Terms

Attendance and Participation

Sessions are not recorded for later distribution unless explicitly stated. If you miss a session, you may request a written summary where practicable, but we cannot replicate the session in full. Individual review sessions are scheduled by mutual agreement within the course period and cannot be deferred beyond four weeks after the final session.

Materials

Course materials are provided for the personal use of the enrolled participant only. They may not be reproduced, distributed, or used for any commercial purpose without prior written consent from Slatewise.

No Financial Advice

Slatewise courses provide financial education and are designed to build understanding. Nothing in any course constitutes financial advice, and no session or material should be treated as a recommendation to take or refrain from any financial action. Participants are encouraged to seek independent professional advice for decisions specific to their circumstances.

6. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate information when enquiring or enrolling
  • Treat other participants and educators with respect during sessions and in discussion forums
  • Not share course login credentials or materials with third parties
  • Not record sessions without prior written consent from Slatewise
  • Not use course content for any purpose other than your own personal learning

We reserve the right to remove a participant from a course without refund if their conduct materially disrupts sessions or causes distress to other participants or staff.

7. Intellectual Property

All course content, materials, workbooks, session structures, and website content are the intellectual property of Slatewise or its licensed contributors. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use course materials for your own personal learning only. All other rights are reserved.

8. Disclaimers

Courses are provided on an "as described" basis. While we take care to ensure accuracy and relevance, financial regulations, tax provisions, and market structures in Malaysia change over time. Course content reflects conditions at the time of the most recent review. Participants should verify current regulatory requirements independently where relevant to their decisions.

We do not warrant that completion of any course will lead to any specific financial outcome. The value of any financial decision is subject to many factors outside our control.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Malaysian law, Slatewise's liability to any participant arising from or in connection with any course shall not exceed the Course Fee paid by that participant for the relevant course.

We shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential, or incidental loss, including loss of profits, loss of investment returns, or loss of data. This limitation does not affect liability for death, personal injury, or fraud.

We are not liable for events beyond our reasonable control, including technical failures by third-party service providers, natural disasters, or public health disruptions. In such cases, we will make reasonable efforts to reschedule or provide alternative access.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Slatewise harmless from any claims, losses, damages, or expenses (including legal costs) arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of course materials.

11. Termination

Either party may terminate the agreement. You may withdraw from a course subject to the refund policy in Section 4. We may terminate your participation if you breach these Terms. Obligations that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property provisions, disclaimers, and limitation of liability — will continue to apply.

12. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute arising under or in connection with these Terms shall first be submitted to informal resolution by written notice to the other party. If not resolved within 30 days, disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia, with Kuala Lumpur as the agreed venue.

13. General Provisions

Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with your enrolment confirmation, constitute the entire agreement between you and Slatewise in respect of course enrolment.

Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply.

Waiver: Failure to enforce any provision does not constitute a waiver of the right to enforce it in future.

Assignment: You may not assign your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent.

14. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Where changes materially affect enrolled participants, we will notify them by email. Continued use of this website or participation in a course after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
